Parliamentary candidates for the General Election

A UK Parliamentary election will be held on Thursday, 8th June 2017.

MPs are elected to office through Parliamentary elections, which are normally held every five years. Each MP serves in the House of Commons, based within the Houses of Parliament at Westminster in London. MPs represent the interests of the people living in their constituency.

Doncaster is divided into three parliamentary constituencies:

  • Don Valley
  • Doncaster Central
  • Doncaster North

Please take note of the following deadlines for registering, postal and proxy voting:

  • The last date to register to vote, if not already registered, is Monday 22nd May 2017
  • Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes and amendments or cancellations of proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services, Civic Office, Waterdale, Doncaster, DN1 3BU by 5pm on Tuesday, 23rd May 2017.
  • New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services, Civic Office, Waterdale, Doncaster, DN1 3BU by 5pm on Wednesday, 31st May 2017.
  • Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services, Civic Office, Waterdale, Doncaster, DN1 3BU by 5pm on Thursday, 8th June 2017. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on Wednesday, 31st May 2017.  To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5 pm on Wednesday, 31st May 2017.
