Doncaster Council is to carry out improvement works on Hickleton crossroads at the junction of the A635 Barnsley Road. The works start on Sunday 26 March and will last three weeks.
The essential works include drainage improvements, new street lighting, new centre islands, carriageway repairs and resurfacing and an extension to the existing speed limit.
The vast majority of works will take place overnight between 8pm and 5am when traffic flows are much lighter. Traffic signals will be in operation.
Works will also take place during the day on Sunday 26 March and Sunday 2 and 9 April. This will see trees trimmed and the carriageway resurfaced and relined under convoy operations. Despite being the quietest day queuing traffic is anticipated in both directions. Drivers are asked to use other routes if possible.
During the works short sections of Red Hill Lane in a northerly direction and Hickleton Road in a southerly direction will be closed at their junctions with the A635 Barnsley Road. Temporary speed limits will be in place and convoy operations used on these roads.
Peter Dale, Director of Regeneration and Environment, said: "We apologise for any inconvenience during these important works. I would like to thank motorists in advance for their patience."
