Houses in multiple occupation with five or more tenants belonging to two or more households, require a licence from the council. In parts of central Doncaster, we have introduced additional licensing for houses in multiple occupation which brings the threshold down to four tenants.
If you're a landlord or property managing agent who lets houses in multiple occupation (HMOs), you may need to apply for a licence. Due to the recent changes in national legislation and the introduction of additional licensing, we are experiencing some delays in the processing of applications. Your patience is appreciated.

Schedule 3A to the Environmental Protection Act 1990 enables the council to designate highways and council owned land where the distribution of free printed matter is permitted only with the prior consent of the council.
