This course is suitable for anyone who has to carry out manual handling activities at work.
This course teaches learners techniques to lift, carry, push and pull objects safely within their individual capabilities with the aim of reducing the number of work-related injuries associated with manual handling. The courses are available to individual candidates or can be customised to meet an organisation’s specific needs.

The course is of approximately eight hours duration including refreshment breaks. It can be presented to suit individual company requirements, i.e. weekends, mornings, evenings etc.
The programme is divided into two parts:
Part 1 will allow learners to understand the risks associated with manual handling and to make recommendations to manage those risks. It concludes with a short multiple choice test comprising of 30 questions. The pass mark being 20. The test can be conducted orally for anyone who has reading difficulties, provided we are notified in advance of the course date.
Part 2 will allow learners to apply the principles of safer handling to a range of everyday manual handling tasks, and is assessed by candidates successful participation in all of the seven practical activities.
All successful candidates will receive the nationally recognised HABC Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling.
