About Public Health

The council is responsible for a number of public health functions:

  • we work with health and social care partners from across the borough including the NHS, emergency services, voluntary and community organisations to prevent ill health and injury
  • we aim to improve and protect the health of the people in Doncaster and help them live healthier and more fulfilling lives by making better and informed choices.

Priorities

The health and wellbeing of the people in Doncaster is improving in a number of key areas. However, it is not improving as fast as it is in the rest of the country. Factors such as employment, housing conditions, education and other aspects of living conditions have an impact on health and this highlights the importance of working to improve the health and wellbeing of our residents.
