Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) Club is a monthly club for young people who have autism, or who are on the pathway for diagnosis. If you enjoy playing D&D then come along and meet new friends at this new club ran by Doncaster Autism Service (DAS).

SEND Social Club

The SEND Social Club provides a safe place to meet friends, learn new skills and have fun! Activities include: crafting, sports, cooking, music, colouring, Lego, giant connect four, pool, platform games machine and table tennis.

We want this session to also be an opportunity for parents and carers to socialise too so you're welcome to stay, have a cuppa, help out in the session and chat with staff and other parents and carers.

Bright Lights: Youth Theatre Group

Bright Lights is a singing and drama group for children and young people with additional needs and learning disabilities.

Children and young people can come along and have fun whilst singing, dancing and acting. Each week we try to follow a similar structure, so participants know what to expect.

The sessions integrate Makaton, use visual aids and sensory equipment, and we support additional physical needs.

Autistic Children’s Evening and Siblings (ACE+S) 

The Autistic Children’s Evening and Siblings (ACE+S) is a free monthly group for any family with a child on the pathway or diagnosed with autism and their siblings.

Families have the opportunity to chat and make friends with others with the same understanding as themselves. They can also share their experiences with others and find out more information about what the council offer. 

Children can enjoy a range of games and activities which have been designed with autistic children in mind in a friendly, welcoming environment. Activities will start and finish in the children's library, with some activities taking place in another part of the building.

If you make yourself a member of the library and group (proof of address is required) then you will be able to access a larger selection of autistic related books which can be borrowed from the library. 

  • Age Range: 5-12 years, but children outside of this age range are also welcome

All Aboard Art Club

All Aboard Art Club is a free weekly session ran during term time for children and young people with additional needs or learning disabilities and their families. 

In the sessions, you will make music with DJ Rob. Each week we try to follow a similar structure, so participants know what to expect. All materials will be provided and the artist, Rob, will always ask how to adapt the activity to best suit you or your child. Everyone is welcome to try things out at their own pace and will be supported in giving things a go.

You will get to have a go on DJ equipment, record your own sounds, try out digital music making apps, jam on percussion instruments and much more!

  • Age Range: 10-16 years, with siblings of all ages welcome.
  • Location: The Point, Doncaster

Sport Works Saturday Club

Join Sport Works for a fun-filled Saturday. Sessions allow children and young people to access a wide range of fun multi-sport activities including table tennis, football, cricket, dodgeball, tennis, rugby and basketball, just to name a few. Sport Works coaches also offer enriching activities such as arts and crafts, sensory play, outdoor activities, parachute games, music and more!

Sessions are participant lead which enables children and young people to drive the ideas of the sessions and make it as fun and engaging as possible by partaking in the activities they want to!

Doncaster Deaf Children's Society

Doncaster Deaf Children's Society is a local group, providing support for parents of Deaf children in Doncaster, as well as arranging social gatherings for parents and Deaf children. It is run by parents and carers of deaf children, working together with local health and educational professionals.

We usually meet in the first weekend of every other month - further details can be found on our website within the events section.

DICE Doncaster

DICE are a non-for-profit social enterprise based in Yorkshire that provides activities, events and services for people with a disability, predominantly adults aged 18 and above.

We are committed to providing a variety of events that not only appeal to people with a disability but also provide a range of opportunities for them engage whether they want to take part or just observe. Events are determined by ideas and information provided by disabled people, and those working with and supporting their development. We want and provide what people with a disability want, and in many respects, need.

We will be working with other local groups and organisations to co-deliver events where possible to maximise opportunity and impact.

Family Hubs

Doncaster Family Hubs are the 'place to go'. We work with other providers to offer a range of activities, services and information for you and your family. Families are welcome with children of all ages from conception, through childhood to adolescence, and even older if your child has a special need. 

HAF Programme

The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme is managed by Doncaster Council in partnership with a range of other local organisations. The programme aims to provide children and young people with opportunities to participate in fun activities and enjoy nutritious food during school holidays.

LADDER Group

The LADDER (Learning about Disability, Differences, Equalities and Rights) Group are a group of young people aged under 25 years with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and long term health conditions, who are passionate about making a difference and getting our voices heard.

We need you to join us and be the voice of under 25 years with:

  • Autism
  • Learning impairment
  • Mental health issues
  • Physical disabilities
  • Sensory impairment
  • and any long term health condition 

We work with Young Healthwatch and Doncaster Youth Council to give the group a louder voice when talking to / working with Education, Health, Social Care and Transport services.

Portage Opportunity Group (POG)

The Portage Opportunity Group (POG) allows children, parents and carers to meet in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which they are able to play and learn together. The group is only accessible to children and parents/carers receiving active Portage Home Visits.

The group provides a wide variety of appropriate play activities, planned to support your child's learning and development. It also offers the opportunity to meet other children known to Portage who have a similar learning profile, and their families. The group is facilitated by all four Portage Home Visitors.

Sessions take place on a monthly basis, 10am-11:30am, at Seedlings Room, Maple Medical Unit, Cedar Road, Balby, DN4 9HT.

Short Breaks Holiday Activities

Short Breaks funded activities are provided in all school holidays (except Christmas).

The timetable includes a variety of activities such as arts and crafts and sports sessions as well as family activities such as ice skating.

The timetable is published on the Short Breaks webpage and the Local Offer Facbook page. If you are a member of the Together Information Exchange register you will receive the timetable to your email address where available.

SEND Sessions and Facilities in the Community

Listed below are sessions and facilities at local venues for children and young people with SEND.

SEND Session at Uproar! Play Barn (Indoor Play Centre)

Uproar! Play Barn offer a relaxed, exclusive session just for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Children can stomp around this Jurassic adventure with the lights on full and the music and sound effects all turned down low.

Sessions run every Monday, from 4:30pm-6pm and cost £6 per child, per session. 1 carer or adult can enter for free*

*Proof of carer ID is required. Additional adults are charged at £1 each.

SEND Session at Go Bounce Trampoline Park

Go Bounce offer an exclusive session for children and young people, aged 4+, who have SEND or who are home schooled. The dedicated sessions offer a quieter experience, with adjusted sound and lighting, ideal for those with special educational needs or Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

Sessions run Monday-Friday during term-time, 2pm-3pm and on the first Tuesday of each month, 6pm-7pm. Sessions cost £7.50 per child and carers go free on production of a valid carers card.

SEND Session at Flip Out Trampoline Park

Flip Out Doncaster offer a dedicated SEND session every Saturday, from 9am-10am. They they turn their lights and music down to create a more relaxing atmosphere for guests. The SEND session takes place all year round.

SEND Swimming Sessions at Various DCLT Venues

Some DCLT pools offer SEND swimming sessions. These sessions are for adults or children with special educational needs and disabilities, and their parents/carers. There is a range of equipment available to help customers change comfortably and access the water safely. Each SEND customer may have a maximum of 2 carers. Carer proof will need to be shown at site.

Supportive Screening at Savoy Cinema

Savoy Cinema Doncaster, offer a dedicated autism-friendly Supportive Screening each Sunday at 10am. During this performance the lighting remains on at a low level, the volume of the soundtrack is turned down and customers are free to make a little noise or take a break if they need to.

SEND Session at Play Valley (Indoor Play Centre)

Play Valley Doncaster offer monthly sessions exclusively for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and their families. The 90 minute play sessions can be accessed at a reduced rate for each child and carers can attend free of charge. The sessions offer a quieter and more relaxed environment for children to enjoy. 

Sensory Rooms at Doncaster Family Hubs

Some of the Family Hubs in Doncaster have sensory rooms which can be used free of charge.

Sensory Zone at Meadowhall Shopping Centre

This sensory zone is located in the Meadowhall's Quiet Room at the Management Suite, situated at the back of The Oasis Dining Quarter near Pizza Hut Express and KFC.

CEA Card

The CEA Card is a national card scheme developed for UK cinemas by the UK Cinema Association (UKCA).

The Card enables a disabled cinema guest to receive a complimentary ticket for someone to go with them when they visit a participating cinema.

The Card is also one way for cinemas to make sure they look after their disabled guests. If you require an adjustment to visit a cinema because of your disability, cinema staff should make them for you whether you have a CEA Card or not.

Max Card

The Max Card is the UK’s leading discount card for foster families and families of children with additional needs. Families can use their Max Card at venues across the UK to get free or discounted admission.

TIE Card

Together Information Exchange (TIE) is a voluntary register of children and young people 0-19 with disabilities in Doncaster. By getting a TIE membership card you automatically receive discounts at various places in and around Doncaster. These include the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, The Dome, Vue Cinema and much more.
