Care Leavers (under the age of 25 years) application form
What is this for?
To apply for a Care Leaver's reduction of 100% on your Council Tax.
To qualify for the care leaver’s reduction, the following must apply:
- City of Doncaster Council must have been the corporate parent of the care leaver at the time of leaving care,
- The care leaver must be liable as a resident to pay Council Tax to City of Doncaster Council,
- The care leaver must be under the age of 25 years.
If a qualifying care leaver is jointly and severally liable for Council Tax with another person who is not a care leaver, a 100% reductions will still be awarded.
Please note that this reduction is only available from 1st April 2018 and will not be awarded for any period before that date.
In order to check your entitlement to this reduction, City of Doncaster Council may need to contact City of Doncaster Children’s Services. If you have any concerns about this, please contact your support worker for more information.

What we need from you
We will ask you to register for a MyDoncaster account if you haven’t already. This will allow you to track your enquiry, and for us to tell you the outcome of your request. You will also be able to access additional online services offered by us.
You will need to supply your Council Tax account and Property Reference number to submit your request. These can be found on your bill.
We will also ask you details about your household, and the care leaver.
What you should expect from us
Once submitted, we will decide if you are entitled to any reduction within 21 days. If successful, you will be issued with a new Council Tax bill showing your reduction. We may need to contact you if we cannot give you a reduction, or if further information is required to process your application.
