Report a damaged or missing bin

If your bin lid is damaged we may be able to repair it (for free).
If your bin is more seriously damaged or is lost or stolen you will need to request a replacement which may be chargeable.
Requesting new or replacement green boxes
If you would like to request a new, replacement or additional green box for recycling glass you can now do so using the appropriate button at the top of this page. You can request this service if:
- you are about to move or have moved into a house that does not have a green box
- your box has been damaged, lost or stolen
- you regularly have a large amount of glass bottles and jars suitable for our kerbside recycling service
There is currently no charge for additional, replacement, damaged, lost or stolen boxes. All boxes remain the property of the council.
New and replacement bin costs
New and replacement bins are chargeable in accordance with the council’s Fees and Charges policy. Prices are set annually by a meeting of full council.
The current cost for a new or replacement bin depends on its size:

*Benefit Price may be applied if you are in receipt of Local Council Tax Support and/or Housing benefit.
To confirm your eligibility for the reduced rate you will need to provide us with:
- your National Insurance Number,
- benefit reference number
- and postcode.
Please note that reduced rates do not necessarily apply to residents receiving Universal Credit (housing element) or those households entitled to the 25% reduction in Council Tax due to single person occupancy. Only those residents in receipt of the qualifying benefits are entitled to reduced rates.
Blue bins remain free of charge.
The charge for a new or replacement bin is set to cover the costs of administration and delivery. The wheeled bin remains the property of the council.
If you pay the charge and we find a repair is possible then the cost will be refunded.
Wheeled bin lids are replaced for free. If the bin is damaged and needs to be replaced, a replacement bin should be requested and will be chargeable.
