Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering
This training course is suitable for anyone who works in the food industry and should be the minimum level of knowledge for food handlers who have contact with unwrapped, high risk food. It has been designed to give an appreciation of the fundamentals of good safe practice. The training is available to individual candidates or can be customised to meet an organisation’s specific needs.
Course Content
In an informal atmosphere, the following issues are included:-
- Simple Bacteriology
- Food Poisoning and its Prevention
- Prevention of Food Contamination
- Personal Hygiene
- Design of Premises and Equipment
- Cleaning and Disinfection
- Pest Control
- Hazard Analysis
- Legal Requirements under Current Legislation
Duration
The course takes approximately eight hours to complete, including refreshment breaks and the exam.
The course is followed by a short multiple choice test comprising of 30 questions, with a pass mark of 20. The test is available in two ethnic languages (see below) or can be conducted orally for anyone who has difficulty reading English (including dyslexia), provided we are notified at least 2 weeks in advance of the course date.

Qualification
All successful candidates will receive the nationally recognised Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering certificate

The course may be delivered in-house (customer provides venue and refreshments): Cost of tuition/preparation/travel etc is £258.00 per course plus a delegate fee of £21 per delegate (to cover the exam fee/handbook/certificate admin etc). We charge for a minimum of six people, up to a maximum of 20 delegates per course.
