What's New and customer feedback (Private Rented Housing).
Listed below are the most recent updates and changes to our Private rented housing web pages. Where possible, we have responded to feedback from the general public and some of the updates you will see are in response to this. - Sept 2023 - The HMO Amenities standards were revised to add hyperlinks for ease of use. The general guidance standards have been updated to reflect legislation changes in relation to smoke and carbon monoxide detection, electrical safety and minimum energy efficiency standards. The contact information has been updated with links to relevant web pages for further details and contact methods.
- 07/09/2023 - Government published new Guidance on Damp & mould - understanding and addressing the health risks for rented housing providers
- 15/03/2023 - New online licence application system launched for Selective Licensing and Houses in Multiple Occupation (New and Renewal applications). The new process has streamlined the previous process and also introduced a 2 part licence fee (Application and Grant) negating the need for applicants to pay the full amount due until a decision has been made to grant the licence. - 01/10/2022 - Carbon Monoxide detector requirements in Private Rented accommodation – From 1st Oct 2022: Ensure a carbon monoxide alarm is equipped in any room used as living accommodation which contains a fixed combustion appliance (excluding gas cookers). Ensure smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms are repaired or replaced once informed and found that they are faulty. - New online facility for reporting repairs in private rented accommodation where tenants have been unable to resolve the complaint with their landlord.
