Who you might refer
Families living in Doncaster some examples might include:
- Anyone who needs help to understand and support the development of a child aged 0 to teen
- Parents who are feeling low in confidence, lonely or isolated
- New parents who are having difficulty adjusting
- Parents experiencing challenges with imbedding routines, setting boundaries, sleep or behaviour
- Families with difficulties around parent/child relationships and bonding
How you can make a referral
If you are the lead professional with a family/child and you want to refer a parent on to an evidence based parenting programme there needs to be an up-to-date assessment in place and parenting needs to be included in the family plan.
The referral form then needs to be sent to ppt@doncaster.gov.uk this will then be processed by business support and the parent will be added to our waiting list. The parenting coordinator will then contact the parent and offer them a place on the most appropriate course for them.
If a professional has identified that a parent would benefit form attending a parenting programme but it is at a universal level, then the parent can be supported to self-refer. This is done by ringing MASH 01302 734110.
Reducing Parental Conflict – relationships matters
When two people share responsibility for a child, no matter whether they are still together or separated, the relationship between them has a direct impact on the mental health of their children. All relationships have tricky moments it’s how they’re experienced and resolved that matters. There is a lot of help available for you to signpost families to, via the relationship matters webpage.
