Description of the course and specific aims
A 6 week course consisting of 3 hours weekly covering a different module each week.The course is a good introduction for those who are volunteering, or about to start within different children and adult settings .The course is a good introduction to key pieces of legislation which may impact on your volunteering work. The sessions provide chance for discussion, group/individual work/activities. The course is also a good introduction for people starting to think of getting back into work by starting as a volunteer. The course has had good feedback from attendees in that it also gives individuals confidence in getting in to the learning environment, social skills etc.
Structure, delivery & costs
Sessions are delivered over a 6 week period and consist of 3 hours per session .All work for each module is done within each session, including completion of the workbooks.
What are the entry requirements? Is this the right course for me?
You must be able to have an understanding of English, both written and verbal.
Classes cover the following area:
- Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
- First Aid
- Keeping Yourself & Others Safe
- Health and Safety
- A Person Centred Approach
What can I go on to next?
The course has been used by Family Hubs in Doncaster as a means of induction before you can volunteer in their centres. Schools have also used the course as part of the Induction process for their schools, again before individuals begin to volunteer in school. The course has also been used by local community libraries to enhance their volunteers skills.
Are there any special requirements or resources needed?
For individuals about to/already volunteering.
Will I get a certificate Is the course accredited?
Yes, there is a certificate awarded and the qualification is recognised. Completion of the course and required assessment is required. The certificate is awarded by NCFE.
