What We have Done to Reduce Bullying
We have a small safeguarding team supporting schools and academies.
Since our strategy has been working to reduce bullying in Doncaster schools we support the Anti-bullying Alliance and we attend regional meetings.
We have developed this website which provides information and support for professionals, parents and young people and we have led the way nationally in piloting new initiatives.
The Education Safeguarding team works closing with schools and other organisatins such as youth groups, early years providers and School Governor Services to provide up-to-date and comprehensive information and training around anti-bullying.
One of our latest ventures has been to create, pilot and launch our own Children and Young People Anti-bullying Charter Mark. Schools can sign up to this award and are required to show the impact of their anti-bullying policies along with demonstrating that they meet a range of other anti-bullying criteria. The Charter Mark Award is an excellent way for schools to gain accreditation and recognition for its achievements in embedding effective anti-bullying practice.
We have also run a full programme of events for every Anti-bullying Week since it began and continue to do so, offering resources and ideas to schools via our website.
We are proud to be a member of the Stonewall Education Equality Index currently ranked 19/45. Doncaster is therefore in the top 20 local authorities.
