Bin Collections

For most residents there will be a slight alteration to bin collection dates between Christmas and New Year.

For the weeks commencing 23 December and 30 December, bins may be collected later than usual, please either check your calendar or go online to see your amended collection date.

Collections will return to normal week commencing 6th January.

For more information or to check your collection dates, please go to: Bins, recycling & waste - City of Doncaster Council

Recycling of Christmas waste

  • Most wrapping paper should be put in your black bin, not blue bin. A good rule to apply is that if you have used it to wrap, put it in black.
  • Christmas cards can also be recycled in your blue bin - remember to tear off any bits with glitter or embellishments as these cannot be recycled.
  • Christmas trees should either be cut up and put in your green bin or taken to a Household Waste Recycling Centre.
  • Remove non-recyclable packaging (e.g. bubble wrap and polystyrene) before putting cardboard boxes in your recycling.
  • Used batteries must be taken back to shops, or taken to your local HWRC for safe disposal.
  • Don't forget - If it's going in the bin, flatten it before you put it in – extra recycling must be put securely next to your recycling bin.

Household Waste Recycling Centres - All sites will be closed on Christmas Day (25 December 2024), Boxing Day (26 December 2024) and New Years Day (1 January 2025). They will also be closed on their normal closed days:

  • Balby, Carcroft and Rossington - closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • Conisbrough and Hatfield - closed Thursdays and Fridays

PLEASE NOTE: HWRC's will close at 5pm on Christmas Eve (24 December 2024) and New Years Eve (31 December 2024)
