Under the theme of Learning for Life – and taking place during this year’s National Careers week (running 3 - 6 March 2025), City of Doncaster Council is supporting organisations with grant funding opportunities to enable them to deliver a multi-day event in Edlington, as one of our priority regenerative neighbourhoods.

The purpose of this event is to offer local people aged 16+ increased skills, employability, and exposure to various industries. The events will need to take place between the 3rd and 6th March 2025 and there will be grant funding available to support organisations to take part! This funding is available through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund as part of a ‘Skills Innovation Accelerator Programme’.

The two funding streams available are:

Employer-Led Challenges - This funding invites Doncaster employers, or other organisations in collaboration with local employers, to bid for funding to deliver learning opportunities (including hands-on work experience/engagement opportunities) to enable residents aged 16+ to gain an understanding of real-world scenarios and issues affecting industry, and in turn to encourage them to consider careers within the relevant sector.
Remake Learning Activities - This funding invites education providers, voluntary, community, faith, and other third sector organisations as well as businesses to bid for grant funding to develop new and engaging learning activities for ages 16+ and their families. The activities must be inclusive, accessible, spark curiosity and passion and promote the development of both technical, practical, life and socio-emotional skills. Where possible the experiences should align to one or more of the following themes: STEM, maker, creative, Arts, and professional development. These funding streams are part of an innovation accelerator programme and we are therefore open-minded about the kinds of activities that we might fund. We’re keen to support a range of different organisations to apply and will provide assistance to ensure the application process is as simple as possible. This includes, for example, accepting application by video.
