Certificates and costs

You can buy copies of birth, marriage or death certificates from us.

What information do we require?

For a birth certificate (short or full version):

  • full name
  • date and place of birth
  • parents' names 
  • mother's maiden name

For a death certificate:

  • full name of the deceased
  • date and place of death

For a marriage certificate:

  • full names of the couple
  • date and the place of marriage

You can obtain copies of certificates by telephone, by printing out and completing the application form and returning it via post, or apply in person at our register office.

If you fall into one or more of the following categories then you can only apply by post.

  • family history applicants
  • applicants who cannot supply full information
  • applicants requiring certificates from more than one register entry

How much do certificates cost?

At the time of registration £4
Additional copies at time of registration £4
After registration, but less than 6 months £7
More than a month after the event (same day service) £16
More than a month after the event (five working days service) £10

Paying for certificates

You need to pay for certificates at the time of applying. You can pay by card, cash or cheque made payable to Doncaster MBC.
