In line with the Civil Aviation Authority and their guidance from dronesafe.uk we have shared information and advice on restrictions to private drone use, which came into effect in March 2019.
Dronesafe.uk states that,
“Drone use is growing at a rapid rate in the UK and our skies are some of the busiest anywhere in the world. The website is designed to help ensure that drone users in the UK can easily access the information they need about how to fly their drones safely and legally, without endangering others.”
Our nearest airport is Doncaster Sheffield Airport, formerly RAF Finningley.
- Don’t fly near airports or airfields
- Remember to stay below 400ft (120m)
- Observe your drone at all times – stay 150ft (50m) away from people and property
- Never fly near aircraft
- Enjoy responsibly
Be Drone Safe
Always keep your drone in sight. This means you can see and avoid other things while flying.
It’s against the law to fly your drone over 400ft (120m). This reduces the likelihood of a conflict with manned aircraft.
Be Drone Aware
Every time you fly your drone you must follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Keep your drone, and the people around you, safe.
Keep the right distance from people and property (150ft or 50m) and crowds and built up areas (500ft or 150m) and don’t overfly.
Be Drone Legal
You are responsible for each flight. Legal responsibility lies with you. Failure to fly responsibly could result in criminal prosecution.
Stay well away from aircraft, airports and airfields when flying any drone. It is illegal to fly them inside the airport’s flight restriction zone without permission. See dronesafe.uk for info. If your drone endangers the safety of an aircraft it is a criminal offence and you could go to prison for five years.
No Drone Zone
The boundaries of where drone flying is prohibited was extended in March 2019 and the exclusion area surrounding Doncaster Sheffield Airport now includes the villages / towns of Finningley, Blaxton, Auckley, Austerfield and areas of Bawtry, Rossington and Branton. Please see map below:
