Major parks and outdoor spaces

Whether you live in Doncaster, or are simply visiting for the day, the borough's major parks and outdoor spaces have a wide range of things to see and do including:

Adwick Park, Woodlands

About the park

A short walk from Adwick interchange, Adwick Park is a great outdoor space with places to play, sports and exercise facilities and more.

The park is on Adwick le Street, just a ten minute walk away from the park and ride at Adwick Interchange. The postcode for the park is DN6 7AD.

Askern Boating Lake

About the outdoor space

Askern Boating Lake is home to some beautiful scenery, various sports and play facilities and a café with a perfect view of the lake.

Bentley Park

About the park

Bentley Park has a variety of things to see and do including beautiful wildflower areas, its historical pavilion and the only outdoor water play area in the borough.

Campsall Country Park

About the park

Campsall Country Park is renowned for its rich and diverse woodlands, and a variety of things to see and do for all ages.

Cantley Park

About the park

Cantley Park is a great way to spend the day, whether it's enjoying the brand new skate park, pitch and putt golf course or simply being outdoors.

Castle Hills Park, Mexborough

About the park

Castle Hills Park is home to some iconic outdoor scenery, including the remains of an ancient motte and bailey castle.

Getting to the park

The park is next to Castle Hills Avenue, between Doncaster Road and Church Street. The postcode for Castle Hills Avenue is S64 0HJ.

Cusworth Park

About the park

Based in the grounds of the historic Cusworth Hall, Cusworth Park is great for enjoying some beautiful scenery, taking a walk or enjoying a run-around with the little ones.

Elmfield Park, Hyde Park

About the park

A short walk from the town centre, Elmfield Park is great for a stroll, keeping the little ones busy or enjoying some exercise outdoors.

Grove Gardens, Wheatley

About the outdoor space

Grove Gardens (or Grove Park) has a little bit of everything including places to play, walking routes and sports and exercise facilities.

Hexthorpe Park

About the park

Whether it's a trip to Doncaster's only public bird aviary, or a stroll in the historic Dell gardens, there's lots to do at Hexthorpe Park.

The park has a wide range of things to see and do, including:

Highfields Country Park

About the park

This country park is perfect for enjoying time outdoors, with walking routes and nature walks, beautiful scenery and areas for angling.

The park and lake are near Coppice Road, postcode DN6 7JA. Whilst there's parking available at the park, you can also park at the Park and Ride North just a a short distance away.

If you're travelling by bus, you can use Travel South Yorkshire's journey planner - just enter where you're going from and to.

As the park isn't listed on the Travel South Yorkshire website, we'd suggest typing in a nearby landmark e.g. Doncaster North Park & Ride.

Howell Wood Country Park, South Kirkby

About the park

Based in the northern part of the borough, Howell Wood Country Park is the perfect place to take a stroll and enjoy being in the outdoors.

Getting to the park

The country park is at the bottom of Burntwood Lane (marked on the map below), postcode S72 9EZ, with parking available at the park.

Denaby Memorial Park

About the park

Also known as the flower park, Denaby Memorial Park is home to some great play and sports facilities and unique historical monuments.

Melton Wood Country Park, Sprotbrough

About the park

Part of Melton Wood, this country park is a great space to get outdoors and enjoy a walk in some beautiful scenery.

The rolling countryside around the wood is also perfect for cycling, with several routes taking in bridle paths, country lanes and short stretches of main road.

Getting to the park

The country park is between Sheep Lane and Hangman Stone Road, with a small car park off Sheep Lane.

Whilst there's not an exact postcode for the park, you can use the postcode for Middleton W H (marked on the map below) which is DN5 7EB.

Quarry Park (Local Nature Reserve), Dunsville

About the park

Since its days as a former quarrying site, Quarry Park's grown to become a popular visitor attraction, with great play and exercise facilities, stunning views and wide open spaces to enjoy.

One of Doncaster’s largest outdoor spaces, Town Field (or Town Fields) is great for walking the dog, a bit of football or simply enjoying the outdoors.
