Caring for babies and toddlers: Elma's story
Foster Carer to over 30 babies shares her heart warming story
Elma and her husband John have opened their hearts and home to over 30 babies and toddlers during their nearly 14 years of fostering. Despite the busy nature of their household, Elma believes that caring for these little ones keeps their spirits young.
With a lifelong love for children, Elma felt a void when their own three children grew up and left home. Inspired by a friend's fostering experience, they embarked on their own fostering journey in 2010.
Reflecting on their experiences, Elma shares, "It's the best decision we've ever made. While saying goodbye to the children we've grown to love is undoubtedly challenging, it's incredibly rewarding to know we've played a part in their journey, whether it's returning home or finding their forever family."
Christmas holds a special place in their hearts. Elma explains, "We love creating cherished memories for the children, making keepsakes and taking pictures for children to keep in their memory boxes."
For anyone considering fostering, Elma's advice is simple: "Talk to friends and family to ensure it's the right decision for you and your loved ones."
